Required run rate describes how quickly a chasing side must score from the remaining valid balls to reach its current target. It changes during the chase.
Use a simple calculation
In an illustrative unchanged chase, 36 runs needed from 24 balls means 36 runs are needed in four overs, so the required rate is 9 runs per over. Always convert balls correctly.
Read it with resources
The same required rate can occur with different wickets remaining and batting situations. A rate is a description of the arithmetic requirement, not a probability of winning or a promise about the next delivery.
Check the current target
Revised conditions can change both target and available balls. Use the official current target and remaining-ball count, then read the displayed rate in that context. Do not calculate from a stale screenshot.
